This M464: Content Area Literacy online secondary teacher education course will help you design “active learning” strategies and techniques for supporting your students' ability to read, study, and learn from your subject area textbooks and other assigned readings, such as magazines, online journals, wikis, and blogs. You will learn to select, administer, guide, reinforce, and evaluate effective reading assignments for guiding ALL students' understanding of the content you want them to learn. Modifications of activities and alternative engagement activities will be emphasized in this course to assist students with reading and/or learning disabilities.
