- This site is intended as a guide that will help you through the process of posting an ad for the Lost and Found section on the new OneStart website.
- For instance, if you found an article of clothing, a book, or jewelry, where would you report the lost item? This webpage will guide and show you where to report the lost item.
- This site will guide you through each and every step in posting and giving a correct description for an item. You have to be careful when posting an ad about an item of value. It's not a good idea to say in your ad what the item looks like because the wrong person might come along and claim it. You just don't want to give it away!
- The following are the steps included in posting an ad:

- First go to the website of OneStart. The website address is https://onestart.iu.edu
- Once you are at the website type in your username and passphrase. If you don't already have an account and are a student, faculty, or staff of Indiana University, be sure you create an IU Technology account so you can use the system.
Only authorized IU community can access IU Northwest classifieds.
- Once you are logged in,
go to the classifieds channel and choose ‘Post an ad’ from the Quick Menu.
- In this case, you would select the Lost and Found category. After filling in your ad, click save. Your ad is posted and someone will be able to view the lost and found items.
- Next you will fill in a form like the one below:
Post an ad

- Contact: This is where to put your name when you post an item. It lets the visitor know who to ask for when contacting
them about the item.
- Ad Title: This is where you decide what to call the item that you are posting.
- Category: This is where you choose the category you want to place the item in.
- Ad Description: This is where you type in the description of the item you are posting.
- Price: If you are selling something this is where to post the price of the item(s) retail value.
- Expire Date: Lets the person know when the ad posted will expire.
How to Report a Lost Item of Value
- First any item should be taken directly to the University Police office. The campus police will place the item in their “Lost and Found” area. Items of value would be described as wallets, purses, jewelry, etc. Any item that a person would feel uncomfortable keeping for any period of time should be taken to the University Police office.
- Explain to the University Police where you found the lost item. Give the specific place and time that you found the lost item.
- Text, go to the OneStart website and post the lost item. View the Modified Updated Instructions to see how to properly post an ad.
- Next give a specific description of the lost item. View the Suggested Descriptions of this webpage and there you will find the hints and examples of giving a proper description.
