Thanks to an innovative agreement between the City of Portage and the area’s major colleges and universities, Indiana University Northwest students can now take courses at the new Portage University Center beginning in the fall of 2012. Having an off-site program in Portage has had a tremendous impact in making an Indiana University degree accessible to more students. Indiana University is proud to be able to continue to extend the campus in Portage allowing closer proximity to students in other areas of Northwest Indiana.
The 31,500-square-foot building offers newer and larger space than our previous Portage location, which will facilitate additional course offerings. Students will be able to take many freshman core courses and upper-level education courses, as well as language and business courses.
This new facility currently holds three IUN classrooms, one which includes a full computer lab for students, staff and faculty use. It also features a separate room with access to four computers for use when a class is being held in the main computer lab. Both computer rooms have printers available.
Students have the ability to relax in both downstairs and upstairs lounge areas in the beautiful atrium area as well as access to vending and coffee machines.
For convenience, there are also conference rooms available for use for meetings and/or group work.
