Notes of Distinction: April 2016

Whether it’s a published article or book, a prestigious award, or speaking engagement, members of Indiana University Northwest’s faculty and staff continue to share their wealth of expertise. Here are the most recent top achievers that have made a name for themselves and IU Northwest.

Jonathyne Briggs, associate professor of history, recently completed a taping of “The Calumet Roundtable” to discuss his recent book, Sounds French (Oxford, 2015).  The episode aired on the Ion Network in March.

David Klamen, Chancellor’s Professor and Department Chair of Fine Arts, is exhibiting in the prestigious Art Basel Hong Kong show this year. “Art Basel stages the world’s premier Modern and contemporary art fairs, staged annually in Basel, Miami Beach and Hong Kong.”

Tin-Chin Lin, associate professor of economics, has been selected into the 2016 Class of the Faculty Colloquium on Excellence in Teaching (FACET). He is one of 11 members chosen to be honored at the FACET Retreat this year, held at Indiana University in April.

Ernest Talarico, associate director of medical education and associate professor of anatomy and cell biology, contributed a book chapter, “The Curriculum of Compassion: Connecting Students with Donor Families,” to a new book and collaborative work, titled, “Commemorations and Memorials in Anatomy: Tribute to the Giver, " (World Scientific Publishers), which will be published during the first half of 2016 in both electronic and hard copy formats.

Linda Wozniewski, lecturer in chemistry, physics and education, was awarded a Distinguished Service Award from the Indiana Science Olympiad Board at the recent Indiana Science Olympiad State Tournament at Indiana University Bloomington.
