Whether it’s a published article or book, a prestigious award, or speaking engagement, members of Indiana University Northwest’s faculty and staff continue to share their wealth of expertise. Here are the most recent top achievers that have made a name for themselves and IU Northwest.

Demetra Andrews, Assistant Professor of Marketing, recently learned that her article entitled, "Product information and consumer choice confidence in multi-item sales promotions," has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services. This journal is “A” rated on the School of Business and Economics Top Flight Journal List.

Brandon Byunghwan Lee, Assistant Professor of Accounting, recently learned that his paper, “The relation between accounting information in debt covenants and operating leases,” co-authored with Daniel Gyung Paik, Joyce van der Laan Smith, and Sung Wook Yoon, has been accepted for publication at Accounting Horizons. Accounting Horizons is an “A” rated journal on the school’s journal list.

HelenMarie Harmon, Assistant Director of the School of Business and Economics, recently presented at the 2015 Global Conference of the National Career Development Association (NCDA) in Denver this past June.  Her presentation - “First Things First! Joe Pellicciotti, Professor Emeritus of the School of Public and Environmental Affairs, was re-appointed to an additional one-year term as co-chair of the Indiana State Bar Association's Written Publications Committee.

Stela Pudar-Hozo, Senior Lecturer of Mathematics, and Iztok Hozo, Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Mathematics, recently learned that their research paper, co-authored with Benjamin Djulbegovic, was cited in more than 1,000 other research papers and books. The paper is entitled, “Estimating the mean and variance from the median, range, and the size of a sample.” Pudar-Hozo said that most of publications that cite the formula revealed in this paper are from the medical field. The formula inspired many scientists around world to add previously collected study data to current data and re-examine effectiveness of a medical treatment. Over the past 10 years, the co-authors have received many email messages from around the world complimenting the paper and seeking further development of their work.

Stephanie Smith, Professor of Psychology, spoke at the Centennial of the Ecological Society of America on the importance of the Northwest Indiana/Chicagoland region in the development of North American Ecology and the formation of the Ecological Society of America and The Nature Conservancy.
