Summer enrollment opened for adult education

Classes include Pharmacy Technician and Certified Nursing Assistant

The Center for Urban and Regional Excellence at Indiana University Northwest offers courses for career development through its Adult Education program. Courses are taught on campus, and at multiple locations in Northwest Indiana.

Upcoming courses offered by IU Northwest include:

Pharmacy Technician
June 9 – Sept. 3

The Pharmacy Technician Training class will be hosted on the campus of IU Northwest and meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. beginning on Tuesday, June 9 and continuing through Thursday, Sept. 3.  This course has been approved by the Indiana Board of Pharmacy, and successful completion of the course is one of the requirements for obtaining a State of Indiana Pharmacy Technician license. 

Certified Nursing Assistant

Day class: June 8 – July 3
Day class: July 6 – 31
Evening class: July 20 – Aug. 14

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) course complies with the Indiana State Department of Health training requirements and includes 60 hours of classroom instruction and 75-80 hours of clinical experience in a licensed long-term care facility in Northwest Indiana.  Successful completion of both classroom and clinical portions leads to registration for the State Certified Nursing Assistant Test.  The class meets for four weeks, Monday through Friday, at an off-campus location, and day or evening classes are available.
