IU Northwest to host Women’s and Gender Studies student research conference ‘Celebrating Our Students’ on March 7
Musician Magdalen Hsu-Li to provide entertainment following presentations

The campus, community, friends and families of student participants are encouraged to attend the event, themed “Ca$h, Sex, Gender and The Law.”
The day’s schedule is as follows:
8:45 to 9:15 a.m. – Welcome and continental breakfast
9:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Student paper presentations
12:30 to 1 p.m. – Lunch
1 to 2:30 p.m. – Roundtable discussion: “Legal Issues Regarding Gender”
3 to 4 p.m. – Lecture and Live Music Performance by Magdalen Hsu-Li: “Smashing the Ceiling and Redefining Identity” in the Bruce W. Bergland Auditorium, located in the Savannah Center.
As described on the artist’s website, “Magdalen Hsu-Li is an internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter, painter, and cultural activist that is redefining the female musician and smashing the ceiling in the American music industry.”
Praised in numerous magazine and newspaper reviews, Hsu-Li’s music has been described as “cool and edgy with the courage to be sensitive, tender and feminine” and “sweet, melodic and real.”
