Latino studies is an interdisciplinary programdesigned to acquaint the student with the world viewand experience of Chicanos and Puerto Ricans in theUnited States. The curriculum emphasizes the history,culture, and socioeconomic conditions of Latinopeople while also examining the nature of minoritygroups in American society. An Associate of Artsdegree (15 credit hours) in Latino studies is availableto every student at ru Northwest. The program alsooffers courses for the bilingual educationendorsement in the School of Education, theeducation minor in ethnic and cultural studies, andthe education major with bilingual emphasis.
