Students who tested into the lowest MA101 math level on the IU Northwest math placement exam need to refresh their math skills by finishing Ivy Tech class MATH 015. Ivy Tech just opened one section of MATH 015 that will meet at IU Northwest. Mr. Howard King will teach this class on Mon-Wed 8:30a to 10:35a in room HH 103. After satisfactory completion of course work, students will be allowed to register into IU Northwest MATH-A100 and complete the remainder of their math requirements.Students who want to register for this special section or transfer to it from another section need to visit Mr. Craig DeMyers in the Office of the Registrar, HH109. Financial Aid students are required to bring to Mr. DeMyers signed Consortium Agreement from their advisors. IU Northwest has partnered with Ivy Tech Community College to provide this convenient program.
Students who tested into MA102 on the IU Northwest placement exam are allowed to take IU Northwest course MATH-A100 (Fundamentals of Algebra). This is a prerequisite course that does not satisfy the College of Arts and Sciences distribution requirements nor general education mathematical reasoning requirement.
Students who tested into MA103 on the IU Northwest placement exam are allowed to take IU Northwest course MATH-M100 (Basic Mathematics), or MATH-M117 (Intermediate Algebra), or MATH-T101 (Math for Elementary Teachers).
The newly re-designed Math Department web pages contain more details, including the flow chart of math courses, courses description, and the list of math classes required by major.
