Library Science Program

Indiana University has the only American Library Association (ALA) accredited masters library and information science (SLIS) program in Indiana. There are 8 Indiana University campuses. In order to offer this program at campuses such as IU Northwest (Gary), IU South Bend, Indiana Purdue Fort Wayne, etc. a Distance Learning program was developed. This program is administered from IUPUI (IU Indianapolis campus), SLIS (School of Library and Information Science). For more information call toll-free 1-888-758-6254.

Distance Education Courses:

Many of the courses are televised to our campuses from IUPUI. These courses are received in interactive instruction rooms on our campus (Hawthorn 318 and 338). Students are able to interact with their professors through the televised class.
When enrolled in this program, the students are considered I.U.P.U.I. students because you enroll in classes through their campus but you attend the televised classes at the IU Northwest campus. The School of Library and Information Science does offer several of its courses online for your convenience.
