CASA - Core Academic Skills Assessment

The CASA I has replaced Praxis I for satisfying entrance requirements at Indiana educator preparation programs. CASA I is administered on computer and includes three subtests:

  • CASA - Reading (40 multiple choice questions)
  • CASA - Mathematics (40 multiple choice questions)
  • CASA - Writing (42 multiple choice questions and 1 writing assignment)

  1. Students must complete all three steps of the full registration process to be able to participate on test day. This includes:
    1. Register for and "Purchase" the CASA exam -
    2. Schedule the actual test date and site
    3. Pay for the PNC sitting fee
  2. If students need accommodations, they should register for and purchase the exam at least two weeks prior to the registration deadline. This will allow for ample time to make appropriate arrangements. In addition, if students indicate that they do need accommodations during the registration process, they will not be able to schedule a test date at that time. CASA contacts the students directly.

CASA Test Fees

These are determined by each testing site. It is the test candidate’s responsibility to clarify test center administration fees and associated policies with the test center directly.

CASA can be taken by registering for:

Applicable PNC Sitting Fees:
