Business Alliance Mission
To further the advancement of northwest Indiana through partnerships between the School of Business and Economics at Indiana University Northwest and the local business community.
Strategic Objectives of the Alliance
- Bring students and businesses together through career-oriented activities.
- Develop innovative and creative service-learning experiences that bring students and employers together.
- Create a communication system that increases awareness of and interest in career opportunities with employers in northwest Indiana.
- Organize social events that bring employers, faculty, and students together for networking and to hear about current business issues facing northwest Indiana.
Business Alliance Luncheon
The School of Business & Economics partners with the Business Alliance to bring the Business Alliance Luncheon to the business community each year in late April. The luncheon features a speaker of interest to the business community. Prior speakers include Gerry Dick, Morton Marcus, and Lynn Brewer, one of the whistle blowers at Enron. Businesses sponsor the luncheon by purchasing tables for their employees and for two of the School's students. Businesses get an opportunity to network with the School's students seated at their table over lunch. Individual tickets are available.
Trading Floor
The trading floor is a place where business students and perspective college students will come and “trade” stocks and understand how our financial markets are setup. It also teaches people the micro-market structure, financial and retirement planning, and will educate individuals in financial products.
Student Profiles for Employers
One of our goals at the IU Northwest School of Business and Economics is to connect our students with local employers. This page, therefore, is dedicated to showcasing the talented students and alumni we serve here at the School of Business and Economics. As an employer, you want to hire the best, and this is the place to start. Take a few moments to review the student videos as well as their Linked In profiles. Should you wish to learn more about one of our students, simply complete the Request Information form.
