Food pantries in Northwest Indiana are in dire need of supplies and area Indiana University alumni groups are stepping up to stock the shelves. The IU Northwest Student Alumni Association urges all students, staff and faculty to deposit non-perishable food in collection bins that will be placed around campus between February 1 and 14. The IU Alumni Association has expanded the food drive into the greater Northwest Indiana community with bins located at all Walgreens stores, as well as town halls in Lake County and libraries in Porter County. The Student Alumni Association hopes to collect at least 200 pounds of non-perishable foods to donate to food pantries in Northwest Indiana.
