According to the American Red Cross, more than 38,000 blood donations are needed every day, yet less than 38 percent of the U.S. population is eligible to give blood. Thankfully, a single healthy donor can save the lives of up to three people. The Indiana University Northwest Student Alumni Association is answering the plea by area blood banks to help restock their shelves with a Blood Drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Thursday, July 7 in the Moraine Student Center. While appointments can be made online at www.givelife.org, the Student Alumni Association will schedule appointments from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday, June 29 and Thursday, June 30 in the Moraine Student Center. The Moraine Student Center is located on the north end of the IU Northwest campus in Gary, just one half-mile south of I-80-94.
