Indiana University Northwest Chancellor William J. Lowe announced today the launch of the university’s Community Engagement Web pages, which give IU Northwest stakeholders and constituents ready access to information about community-outreach programs and resources that are available at the Northwest Indiana regional campus of Indiana University. The site, which went live today, Wednesday, March 9, is one component of a larger initiative to highlight the university’s active commitments in the Northwest Indiana community, promote new partnerships and encourage greater local awareness of IU Northwest’s human and intellectual resources. The Web pages can be viewed at: http://www.iun.edu/~unrel/commengage/. “IU Northwest engages with our regional community in a multitude of important and substantive ways,” Dr. Lowe said. “The goal of our Community Engagement Web pages are to inform our public constituents about the projects and partnerships that our faculty and staff colleagues are involved with that positively impact the region. We also want to encourage members of the community to bring us other ideas about how we can become even more involved in the work of advancing Northwest Indiana.” The Community Engagement Web pages have been categorized into 10 focus areas, for ease of use by the campus and the local community: New projects and information will be included on the web pages as they become available. The online resource includes brief summaries of community-focused programs like Science Olympiad, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, the Gary Midtown Project, and the annual Forum on the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect, to name just a few, as well as links to additional resources and contact information for departments and personnel that are involved in outreach initiatives. “The Community Engagement Web pages are a collaborative effort and I encourage our current and potential community partners to review this information and share it with other regional businesses or organizations that may be interested in developing a partnership with Indiana University Northwest,” Dr. Lowe said. Those interested in exploring partnership opportunities with IU Northwest are encouraged to visit the Community Engagement Web pages at http://www.iun.edu/~unrel/commengage/ and learn more about the resources and opportunities that the university has to offer. Anyone with questions or comments about the Community Engagement Web pages may also send an email to marcom@iun.edu. Please put “Community Engagement Web Pages” in the subject line of the email.
