The Indiana University Northwest Nu Lambda chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA) sorority will host an on-campus Global Food Drive starting Thursday, Oct. 7. The drive will continue weekly on Thursdays until one week prior to Thanksgiving, Thursday, Nov. 18. The members of AKA will be accepting donations of non-perishable food items in the lobby of the Moraine Student Center from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. The Office of Student Life and Athletics, as well as AKA members, encourages the greater community and all IU Northwest students, faculty and staff to participate. All items collected will be donated to a local food pantry in time for the Thanksgiving holiday. The Nu Lambda chapter of AKA strives to provide services to all humankind. In recent years, the chapter has been involved in providing scholarship awards to high school students in need, visiting local elderly, donating food baskets to the needy, and giving monetary and clothing donations to various organizations. Members of AKA are female college students who possess a 2.3 grade point average or better and are enrolled as full-time students with 12 credit hours or more.
