While dances like the “Macarena” and the “Cha Cha Slide” are familiar and popular in clubs and at weddings around the world, you can add new party moves to your repertoire by enrolling in an adult-education course, “Intro to Line Dancing,” offered at Indiana University Northwest. This non-credit course, starting Sept. 18, will provide even the most novice dancers with moves to make their friends jealous. The class will meet every Saturday from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m., concluding Oct. 16. Men and women of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to enroll in this class. Students will brush up on their line dancing abilities and learn some new moves, all while exercising. Dances will be taught in parts, and then completed as a whole to music. And best yet, students will learn from a pro; the instructor recently won first place in Chicago’s 2009 World’s Largest Stepping Contest! For the more advanced line dancer, or those wishing to continue their “studies”, a Line Dancing II class will start on Oct. 23, taking place on Saturdays from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m., concluding Nov. 20. Line Dancing I and Line Dancing II each cost $50.
