Search CQ Researcher Online from IU
Northwest Campus

Need to write a research paper or a speech on a controversial
current events topic? CQ Researcher's online full-text
database, now available through the Internet on IU Northwest campus computers
can help locate such information. This weekly publication covers
the most current and controversial issues of the day with complete
summaries, insight into the pros and cons of particular issues
and bibliographies. Users may browse through articles in the
current issue or search for past articles using keyword, dates
or other criteria.
To use CQ Researcher, go to
the IU Northwest Library Electronic
Information Page.
The main menu screen features the most current full-text CQ Researcher
articles. Topics include student activism, Alzheimer's disease,
recycling, environmental justice and child care options. Past
reports dating back to November 1991 can be retrieved through
the keyword index. The database also gives a listing of upcoming
reports with a summary. The complete CQ Researcher Quarterly
Index from January 1991 to the present can be downloaded using Adobe
Acrobat Reader software or as a plain text file.
Library users can now enjoy the added advantage of conducting
a search and retrieving the article in one process. The online
service's CQ Library also offers advice on how to properly cite
articles obtained from CQ Researcher. For further information,

Books in Print Now Available on the Online Catalog
Since the 1998 Summer Session, the web version of Books in
Print (BIP) has appeared on the IU Northwest Library's online catalog
menu. This publication lists over 1.8 million titles currently
in print as well as titles soon to be published in the next
six months, books out of print and U.S. publisher, distributor
and wholesaler information.
Books in Print may be accessed from IU Northwest computers by
going to http://www.booksinprint.com. Choose
either Books in Print (A-J) (K-Z), Books Out of Print (A-J) (K-Z)
or Publishers, Distributors and Wholesalers of the U.S. and click
Search. When selecting the first three databases, the user can
limit a keyword search by language, publication year, title,
author or subject. When using the Publisher, Distributor or Wholesaler
section, just type keywords in the dialog box and click Search.
Books in Print can also be reached at home via a telnet
connection to IO (Information Online). After logging in with
your IU Northwest ID Number or library barcode number, choose Books in
Print (BIP) at the main menu.
EBSCOhost Expands Newspaper Source's Full Text Coverage
Newspaper Source, one of EBSCOhost's databases offered
on the IU Northwest campus community and Indiana residents through the
INSPIRE project now offers access to news and/or full-text articles
from 105 regional U.S. newspapers including the Chicago Tribune, Detroit
Free-Press, St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Indianapolis
Star (business articles only) and the Fort Wayne News-Sentinel (news
and business articles. Ten international newspapers such as the Hong
Kong Standard and the World Paper are also included.
Full text coverage of the Christian Science Monitor and
abstracts/indexing for the New York Times, Wall Street
Journal and USA Today will still continue.
Access to Newspaper Source and the other EBSCOhost indexes
is available from any IU Northwest campus computer via the World Wide
Web at
the IU Northwest Library Electronic Information
Page.
Once logged into Newspaper Source, click on the Browse Newspapers
button at the top of the search screen to view the complete newspaper
listing for this database. IU Northwest students, faculty and staff can
also reach this database at home through a telnet connection
to IO (Information Online). After logging in with your IU
Northwest ID
Number or library barcode number, select Journal and Newspaper
Indexes. Then choose Newspaper Source.
