Online Catalog Becomes Web-Based
In April, the IU Northwest Library's online catalog workstations dramatically
changed appearance. IUCAT, the Indiana University Libraries'
Online Catalog and the Inspire databases such as Academic Search
Full-Text Elite and Business Source Elite can now be accessed
through a web browser interface. This method enables users
to print or e-mail articles from the EBSCOHost and other indexes
more easily. Come to the library and try it! The system can
be accessed from any IU Northwest computer by pointing your web browser
to
the IU Northwest Library Electronic Information
Page.
If you are accessing from home, you can use your telnet software
to connect to infogate.ucs.indiana.edu.
Preview INDYCAT on the IU Northwest Library's Online Catalog Workstations
INDYCAT, IU's prototype web-based catalog has recently been
added to online catalog menu at the IU Northwest Library. INDYCAT is
part of the new Horizon automation system developed by Ameritech
that all Indiana University Libraries will eventually use to
create computerized records for books, journals and other library
materials. The INDYCAT web-based catalog currently contains
records for the IUPUI main library, the Herron Art Library
and the IUPU Columbus Library. For more information, about
INDYCAT, see IUPUI's INDYCAT page or go directly to the INDYCAT
Web Catalog. Please note: To locate books and other materials
at IU Northwest and other IU campus libraries, use IUCAT on the IO (Information
Online) system.
