practice and policy in child welfare  

 

Professional Activities:
Denise received the Ph.D. in 1998 and the MSW in 1983 from the University of Illinois at Chicago/Jane Addams College of Social Work. She has been the Executive Director of Human Beginnings, an outpatient mental health center, since 1993. In addition, she has conducted two HIV / Aids needs assessments. The first focused on various populations of color in Lake County. The second focused on HIV (+) persons who reside in Lake, Porter and LaPorte counties. Her current research interests include the practice and policy in child welfare and issues related to prevention and treatment for HIV / Aids. She is also teaching in the clinical and social policy curriculum and serves as a faculty field liaison.
