How to Prepare for Tests & Quizzes

About Tests. The purpose of tests is to assess your comprehension of basic concepts and vocabulary in assigned readings, and your understanding of materials presented in class.

There will be two formal tests during the semester. The study guide for each test will prepare you for the traditional type recall questions (multiple choice, T-F, etc.). There will also be short answer/essay questions. Regular attendance and participation in class activities/discussions will prepare you for this part of the test.

Go to the Study Guide for   Test 1 and    Test 2.   To be activated about two weeks before each test.

About Quizzes. The purpose of quizzes is to prepare you for the tests, and to encourage you to keep up with course readings. There will be several quizzes throughout the semester, both announced and unannounced. The format of quizzes varies and can be in the form of either application or recall. The best way to prepare for quizzes is by completing the readings and by taking notes. To encourage reading and note taking, you may use one 5” x 7” reading note card per chapter during quizzes.

Go to information of how to create a reading note card or to a sample note card.
